Digital Stories
Made in April 2022 this Media Arts Project is a small documentary on New York artist Audrey Simard who goes by the handle of CordycepQueen.
These were made for my Digital Storytelling Class while attended SUNY-Empire State College. This first digital story is based on the ability to make a story with any mobile device. For this assignment, I decided to unlock the story behind a landmark that I always see while driving around my local area.
Before I started my semester at SUNY-Empire State College I endured a time of grief when I lost one of my dearest and closest friends to illness. This "my choice" digital story assignment was a way to cope with my grief and to create a connection to my classes and semester since this friend was met when I first attended college at SUNY HVCC.
This assignment was based on empowerment. Through listening to many of NPR's StoryCorp stories I knew I wanted to create a narrative about the birth of my first son. What I didn't realize is the number of things that can go wrong in recording and filming. I had backups and the backups failed, but I was able to piece together a final video that doesn't necessarily "show" the failures.
